Jan. 19/26 Update to Silver Purchases

We are Buying ONLY SELECT Silver Until Further Notice

January 19, 2026

As of today we are now purchasing:

  • All silver bullion from LBMA certified makers.
  • 50 Ounce and smaller bullion from non-LBMA makers.

Our silver refining partners in Canada have temporarily frozen their payment mechanisms. This is a global issue in response to current market stressors. Elevated lease rates on silver have now made it impossible for Guardian to settle transactions under normal terms.

At this time we cannot purchase these silver products:

  • Jewellery
  • Silver flatware, tableware, and collectible items
  • Any Coinage
  • Non-LBMA certified makers bullion larger than 50 oz

These are temporary measures. Unfortunately, we cannot predict when circumstances will change, however, we will review this policy as conditions stabilize. We appreciate your understanding and patience during this time.

Geopolitics

Russian President Vladimir Putin has formally lowered the conditions under which Russia would use nuclear weapons, reacting to Ukraine’s strikes within Russian territory using American missiles. This update to Russia’s nuclear policy now allows for a nuclear response if Russia or its allies face aggression from a non-nuclear state supported by a nuclear state. This significant shift in nuclear doctrine was justified by the Kremlin as a necessary update given the current geopolitical tensions, especially following recent Ukrainian attacks that utilized U.S.-supplied weapons.

U.S. allies are raising alarms about potential hybrid warfare following the severance of two key undersea communication cables in the Baltic Sea, which they suspect are acts of sabotage amidst heightened tensions with Russia. This incident has led to increased monitoring and precautionary measures among NATO members. The situation underscores the broader concerns about security and the ongoing hybrid activities by state actors aimed at disrupting stability in Europe, as the geopolitical conflict continues to evolve.

A volcano near Reykjavik, Iceland erupted again late Wednesday, marking the seventh eruption in the area within a year. This recent eruption was smaller than previous ones, creating a nearly two-mile long fissure but causing no significant disruptions to air travel or infrastructure. Despite the lack of prior seismic warnings, authorities were monitoring the situation due to ongoing volcanic activity in the region. The eruption led to temporary closures, including the Blue Lagoon spa, and precautionary evacuations in the nearby town of Grindavík.

Australia is moving to enact one of the strictest social media regulations globally, proposing a law to prohibit children under 16 from using social media without exceptions for parental consent. The bill, supported by the government and potentially the opposition, aims to shield youth from online harms linked to mental and physical health issues. The law would impose heavy fines on platforms that fail to enforce age verification, which might include biometric checks or government IDs. This follows global concerns about the impact of social media on children’s wellbeing.

The Call

Gold had a very strong rebound last week (up 150.00 on the week), with the first part of our call materializing. We expected gold to reverse around 2650.00 but instead it just powered up over 2700.00. Golds next move should be an attempt at the all-time high of 2800.00 and if the price moves through the resistance at 2800.00, we are on our way to a new high in the 3000.00 range by years end.

Last Week in Review

Gold opened on Sunday evening at 2569.20 and dipped to make the weekly low of 2566.30 immediately. Gold then started an impressive 5-day rally which hit the weekly high of 2716.10 on the closing bar on Friday afternoon and settled at 2715.80.  Gold was higher by almost 150.00 from last weeks low!

Silver opened Sunday night at 30.36 and established the weekly low of 30.34 immediately just like gold did. The rally began right away but did not have the same strength as gold and the weekly high was hit on early Tuesday morning at 31.605. From here there was choppy trading for the rest of the week and silver closed Friday afternoon at 31.395

  • The U.S. Dollar Index was stronger this week and finished at 107.55.
  • The Gold/Silver Ratio was a little weaker this week at 86.8 ounces of silver for 1 ounce of gold.
