Jan. 19/26 Update to Silver Purchases

We are Buying ONLY SELECT Silver Until Further Notice

January 19, 2026

As of today we are now purchasing:

  • All silver bullion from LBMA certified makers.
  • 50 Ounce and smaller bullion from non-LBMA makers.

Our silver refining partners in Canada have temporarily frozen their payment mechanisms. This is a global issue in response to current market stressors. Elevated lease rates on silver have now made it impossible for Guardian to settle transactions under normal terms.

At this time we cannot purchase these silver products:

  • Jewellery
  • Silver flatware, tableware, and collectible items
  • Any Coinage
  • Non-LBMA certified makers bullion larger than 50 oz

These are temporary measures. Unfortunately, we cannot predict when circumstances will change, however, we will review this policy as conditions stabilize. We appreciate your understanding and patience during this time.

Geopolitics

In Syria, rebel coalitions have overthrown President Bashar al-Assad’s regime, seizing Damascus and marking a significant shift after a prolonged conflict. President Joe Biden sees this as an opportunity for Syria’s recovery, while Assad has sought asylum in Russia, confirmed by both Russian media and U.S. officials. Celebrations erupted in Damascus as the rebels, led by Hayat Tahrir al-Sham—a group previously linked to Al Qaeda—claimed victory. The group’s recent actions suggest a move away from extremist ties.

South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol’s brief declaration of martial law has not led to impeachment after members of his party left parliament, causing the opposition to fall short of the needed votes. Despite apologizing for the confusion caused by his actions, opposition and public dissatisfaction remain high. Yoon vowed not to declare martial law again and expressed readiness to assume legal and political responsibilities. Discussions around his potential resignation continue as opposition parties plan to revisit the impeachment motion.

The French government, led by Prime Minister Michel Barnier, was overthrown following a no-confidence vote in Parliament. This marks the first government ousting in France since 1962 and throws the nation into political uncertainty. The no-confidence motion passed with support from both far-left and far-right parties, obtaining 331 out of the necessary 299 votes. President Macron now faces challenges in forming a stable government amidst a fragmented parliament, with potential implications for his own political future. Barnier’s brief tenure and the subsequent political instability highlight deep divisions within French politics.

The Call

Gold has been trading in a narrow trading range between 2615.00 and 2670.00 for almost 2 weeks. We favour a break lower for gold, testing the previous low towards 2545.00 before resuming the bullish move higher. We would remain long or on the sidelines and wait to add to long positions until gold closes above 2665.00 spot. Once gold closes above 2665.00 our initial target would be 2725.00 and then a break of 2725.00 will signal a continued rally to test the all time high above 2800.00.
