Jan. 19/26 Update to Silver Purchases

We are Buying ONLY SELECT Silver Until Further Notice

January 19, 2026

As of today we are now purchasing:

  • All silver bullion from LBMA certified makers.
  • 50 Ounce and smaller bullion from non-LBMA makers.

Our silver refining partners in Canada have temporarily frozen their payment mechanisms. This is a global issue in response to current market stressors. Elevated lease rates on silver have now made it impossible for Guardian to settle transactions under normal terms.

At this time we cannot purchase these silver products:

  • Jewellery
  • Silver flatware, tableware, and collectible items
  • Any Coinage
  • Non-LBMA certified makers bullion larger than 50 oz

These are temporary measures. Unfortunately, we cannot predict when circumstances will change, however, we will review this policy as conditions stabilize. We appreciate your understanding and patience during this time.

Geopolitics

North Korea has reportedly sent additional troops to assist Russian forces in the Kursk region of Russia, where fighting with Ukrainian troops is ongoing. This deployment adds to the over 11,000 North Korean troops already reported to be participating in the conflict in Ukraine, according to South Korea’s National Intelligence Service. This information comes amid claims of North Korea’s military support to Russia in the war, a claim North Korea has yet to formally acknowledge.

The recent Oval Office confrontation between President Donald Trump and Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has significantly strained trans-Atlantic relations, historically built over 80 years. This rift was deepened by Trump’s criticisms of Zelenskyy, contrasting with strong support for the Ukrainian leader from European figures. European leaders have publicly backed Zelenskyy, emphasizing Ukraine’s role in defending European security. This situation highlights a potential shift towards European strategic autonomy, questioned especially in light of Trump’s approach to international relations and European defense capabilities.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, after a heated meeting with President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance, expressed optimism about mending U.S. relations. He confirmed readiness to sign a deal granting the U.S. access to Ukraine’s rare-earth minerals and emphasized the need for private diplomatic conversations going forward. He remains committed to dialogue with the U.S. while defending Ukraine’s position and actions in the ongoing conflict with Russia.

A U.S. aircraft carrier has docked in Busan, South Korea, signaling a reinforced U.S.-South Korea military alliance amidst ongoing North Korean threats. This deployment, the first since June, comes after North Korea’s recent missile tests, which they claim demonstrate their counterattack capabilities. This military maneuver by the U.S. is likely to provoke North Korea, which perceives such U.S. military activities as significant threats. Amidst these tensions, North Korea continues to enhance its military readiness and nuclear capabilities.

The Call

We expected Gold to start a pullback in March but the move started a few days early. The first test of the downside has taken gold down towards 2825.00 and we are now in the midst of a bounce. This bounce should take gold up to 2900.00 -2925.00 before a resumption of the downward move continues. This could go either way and will depend on what transpires with the on again off again tariffs. Our call is that the high is in for now on gold and the metals will move lower from here for a few weeks. Target is 2750.00.

Last Week in Review

The April gold contract opened Sunday evening at 2950.40 and rallied up to make the weekly high. This new all-time high of 2973.80 (April) on Monday evening was only 50 cents higher and this turned out to be golds peak and we started our way down. There was steady pressure on gold all week as gold headed to retest the last peak of October 29th of 2846.90, hitting 2844.20 to make the weekly low. A bounce had gold closing the week at 2867.20 (Apr) on Friday afternoon.

  • The U.S. Dollar Index was stronger this week and finished at 107.71.
  • The Gold/Silver Ratio was weaker this week at 91.9 ounces of silver for 1 ounce of gold.
