Jan. 19/26 Update to Silver Purchases

We are Buying ONLY SELECT Silver Until Further Notice

January 19, 2026

As of today we are now purchasing:

  • All silver bullion from LBMA certified makers.
  • 50 Ounce and smaller bullion from non-LBMA makers.

Our silver refining partners in Canada have temporarily frozen their payment mechanisms. This is a global issue in response to current market stressors. Elevated lease rates on silver have now made it impossible for Guardian to settle transactions under normal terms.

At this time we cannot purchase these silver products:

  • Jewellery
  • Silver flatware, tableware, and collectible items
  • Any Coinage
  • Non-LBMA certified makers bullion larger than 50 oz

These are temporary measures. Unfortunately, we cannot predict when circumstances will change, however, we will review this policy as conditions stabilize. We appreciate your understanding and patience during this time.

Geopolitics

President Donald Trump has reiterated plans to have the U.S. take over Gaza once the conflict ends, proposing to develop it into a new region and resettle Palestinians in “safer and more beautiful communities.” Israeli officials have not provided details about the plan, and it has sparked international criticism and disbelief, being labeled by some as ethnic cleansing. The proposal dismisses the Palestinian bid for statehood. The White House has stated Trump aims to rebuild Gaza without deploying U.S. troops, and it has not committed to forcibly relocating Palestinians during reconstruction.

Thursday Donald Trump signed an executive order imposing sanctions on the International Criminal Court (ICC), alleging it targets the U.S. and Israel unfairly. The sanctions include financial restrictions and visa bans on ICC staff involved in probing American or Israeli actions. This move has drawn criticism from 79 countries, asserting it undermines international law and could shield war criminals from accountability. The ICC, unsupported by the U.S. and Israel, remains committed to its judicial duties despite these challenges.

The ceasefire in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo is faltering as M23 rebels, supported by Rwanda, continue to seize more territory, including the strategic mining town of Nyabibwe. Despite a declared unilateral ceasefire earlier in the week, M23 has advanced towards Bukavu, escalating fears of a regional conflict. The ongoing violence has resulted in significant civilian casualties and displacement, especially in the city of Goma, which the rebels captured previously. The international community, including the United Nations, is deeply concerned about the humanitarian impact and potential war crimes.

Lebanon has formed its first full government since 2022, led by Prime Minister Nawaf Salam, amid ongoing severe economic crisis. The new government aims to rebuild trust domestically and internationally, address economic reforms, and manage regional relationships, especially concerning the recent ceasefire with Israel and the withdrawal of Israeli forces from Lebanese territory. The government marks a notable shift away from leaders associated with Hezbollah, aiming to strengthen ties with Gulf nations and consolidate state control over military operations.

The Call

Gold again was strong last week and was able to set another all-time high of 2910.70 for the April contract. Gold was not able to close above 2900.00 and pulled back to 2886.00. Everyone is bullish and are talking 3000.00 and higher. When everybody is long and calling anything higher, what should we expect. Lower! We are looking for gold to possibly rally towards 2950.00-2960.00 basis April on a spike but ultimately sell off and test the 2750.00 level. If this does not happen this week then possibly next.

Last Week in Review

Gold opened on Sunday evening at 2846.50(April) and dropped down to 2802.20 making the low of the week Sunday evening. Gold then started a steady rally through the rest of the week to reach another all-time high of 2910.70 Friday morning before pulling back Friday afternoon closing at 2886.10..

  • The U.S. Dollar Index was a little weaker this week and finished at 108.04.
  • The Gold/Silver Ratio was a lower this week at 90.0 ounces of silver for 1 ounce of gold.
