Jan. 19/26 Update to Silver Purchases

We are Buying ONLY SELECT Silver Until Further Notice

January 19, 2026

As of today we are now purchasing:

  • All silver bullion from LBMA certified makers.
  • 50 Ounce and smaller bullion from non-LBMA makers.

Our silver refining partners in Canada have temporarily frozen their payment mechanisms. This is a global issue in response to current market stressors. Elevated lease rates on silver have now made it impossible for Guardian to settle transactions under normal terms.

At this time we cannot purchase these silver products:

  • Jewellery
  • Silver flatware, tableware, and collectible items
  • Any Coinage
  • Non-LBMA certified makers bullion larger than 50 oz

These are temporary measures. Unfortunately, we cannot predict when circumstances will change, however, we will review this policy as conditions stabilize. We appreciate your understanding and patience during this time.

Geopolitics

Israelis celebrated the return of the first hostages from Gaza under a new ceasefire deal that also saw many displaced Palestinians return home. The ceasefire aims to end a 15-month conflict that killed over 46,800 Palestinians. The truce includes phased releases of hostages and Palestinian detainees, significant aid deliveries, and an eventual move towards permanent peace. Initial phases involve the return of families to northern Gaza and the release of 33 hostages in exchange for 1,904 Palestinian detainees. The deal was mediated by the U.S., Egypt, and Qatar.

South Korea’s military suspects North Korea is preparing to send more troops to Russia, following substantial casualties among its forces fighting in the Ukraine war. North Korea is also readying a ballistic missile test targeting the U.S. This development occurs as President Trump, known for previous talks with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, returns to office. The deepening military relationship between North Korea and Russia could further challenge U.S.-North Korea diplomacy, amid concerns Trump might reduce focus on full denuclearization in favor of addressing only long-range missile threats.

South Korea’s prosecutors have officially indicted impeached President Yoon Suk Yeol on charges of insurrection related to his attempt to impose martial law on December 3. This unprecedented action could lead to severe penalties for Yoon, including life imprisonment or the death penalty, given the gravity of the charges. This move has intensified the political crisis in South Korea, involving key government and military officials. The Constitutional Court is reviewing his impeachment to decide on his removal or reinstatement, with a decision expected within 180 days.

The Call

Gold had another strong week and ended up testing the 2800.00 level on Friday and finished just shy of it at 2775.00. The gold spot price early in the week was trading at a 40.00 discount to the February contract and this discount all but disappeared as the week went on. Consensus of gold traders say gold should break the all-time high and attempt the 2900.00 level next. We agree and with a soft U.S. Dollar it seems like clear sailing for gold The FOMC meeting Wednesday could throw us a curve ball and as always, a pullback with profit taking is a possibility.

Last Week in Review

  • The U.S. Dollar Index was down sharply this week and finished at 107.44.
  • The Gold/Silver Ratio was a weaker this week at 90.7 ounces of silver for 1 ounce of gold.
