Jan. 19/26 Update to Silver Purchases

We are Buying ONLY SELECT Silver Until Further Notice

January 19, 2026

As of today we are now purchasing:

  • All silver bullion from LBMA certified makers.
  • 50 Ounce and smaller bullion from non-LBMA makers.

Our silver refining partners in Canada have temporarily frozen their payment mechanisms. This is a global issue in response to current market stressors. Elevated lease rates on silver have now made it impossible for Guardian to settle transactions under normal terms.

At this time we cannot purchase these silver products:

  • Jewellery
  • Silver flatware, tableware, and collectible items
  • Any Coinage
  • Non-LBMA certified makers bullion larger than 50 oz

These are temporary measures. Unfortunately, we cannot predict when circumstances will change, however, we will review this policy as conditions stabilize. We appreciate your understanding and patience during this time.

Geopolitics

Gold prices dipped to a two-week low this week, influenced by investors taking profits amidst market volatility. Despite the dip, the weaker U.S. dollar, falling U.S. stock indexes, and climbing crude oil prices have bolstered interest in precious metals like gold and silver. However, attention remains fixed on forthcoming U.S. economic data, expected to play a critical role in future price movements. Analysts predict a sustained strong investment demand for precious metals, bolstered by persistent geopolitical tensions and financial uncertainties.

In China, a significant downturn in gold demand has been observed, attributed to the precious metal’s record-high prices which have deterred consumers from purchasing jewelry. This drop in demand is occurring alongside a sluggish Chinese economy, affecting discretionary spending. Despite these local challenges, global gold prices are still finding support from potential Federal Reserve interest-rate cuts and robust safe-haven demand spurred by various geopolitical uncertainties, including the anticipation surrounding the U.S. presidential election.

While gold prices have retreated this week, the overall market sentiment remains bullish. The expected continued weakening of the global economy in 2024, with sluggish growth prospects in the U.S. and China, is likely to enhance the appeal of gold and silver as reliable diversifiers. These metals are seen as stable assets that can sustain investor interest amid short-term market fluctuations.

Seabridge Gold (TSX: SEA) recently announced a significant advancement for its KSM Project, which has been designated as “substantially started” by the British Columbia Government. The KSM project, described as the world’s largest undeveloped gold project in terms of reserves and resources, holds an estimated 47.3 million ounces of gold and 7.3 billion pounds of copper. This milestone underlines the project’s potential to significantly contribute to the global gold supply.

In the unfolding political drama, President Joe Biden’s decision not to run for reelection has garnered widespread Democratic support for Vice President Kamala Harris as the likely nominee, significantly narrowing most of Trump’s leads in the polls. This development introduces fresh uncertainties into the U.S. political landscape, likely influencing both domestic policies and U.S.-China relations. The evolving campaign dynamics between former President Donald Trump and Vice President Harris are adding layers of complexity to the geopolitical environment. Market analysts are closely monitoring these shifts, anticipating their potential impact on investor sentiment and market dynamics in the months ahead.

The past week has been pivotal for the precious metals market, especially gold. From achieving record highs spurred by anticipated rate cuts and geopolitical tensions to witnessing strategic discussions between global leaders like Narendra Modi and Vladimir Putin, the dynamics of the market are continually evolving. The combination of economic challenges in major economies and significant political developments underscores gold’s vital role in providing stability and preserving wealth in unpredictable times.

The Call

We have an interesting week coming up with a quiet start and then we see jolts on Tuesday, the FOMC interest rate decision on Wednesday and nonfarm payrolls and the unemployment rate on Friday. What would a surprise interest rate decrease do to the markets!

A deadly missile strike into the Golan Heights from Lebanon has increased the threat of a full-blown attack on Lebanon by the IDF and could this draw Iran further into the hornets nest.

On the gold front, we see gold experiencing volatility with 2300.00 on the bottom and 2500.00 on the top. My feeling is we see a small rally initially and later in the week a sell off continuing the short-term downward direction.

Silver is struggling in the 28.00 area and looks to possibly go back down to retest the 26.00-26.50 support level it broke upwards out of a few months ago.
